Vedic math and adding fractions

I always found the process of looking for the lowest common denominator to be a little laborious, and I always had to re-learn how to do it. The Vedic approach is simpler:

1/2 + 1/3 = ?

Step 1: Cross multiply: 1 X 3 and 1 X 2.
Step 2: Add the results: 3 + 2 = 5
Step 3: Multiply the denominators: 2 X 3 = 6
The answer is 5/6.
